All lodging for the AFHVS/ASFS 2018 conference has been arranged by UW Extension Conference Planning Services. No outside organization has been retained to book housing for any of our guests. All guests should contact hotels directly to book accommodations. If you are contacted by anyone claiming to represent the conference or offering you reduced rates for your hotel stay,  DO NOT give any personal information or payment details.

Madison offers a wide range of sleeping accommodations. Most conference hotels were selected for their walkability to the conference site. For best selection, book as early as possible. Release dates for each room block vary slightly.

Campus Housing - Chadbourne Hall

GUESTS INTERESTED IN CAMPUS HOUSING ACCOMODATIONS CAN BOOK LODGING FROM JANUARY 15 – MAY 28, 2018. All guest rooms include: air-conditioning, a small refrigerator, free wireless and wired high-speed Internet connections, digital television connections for your laptop, televisions with cable connections, clock radios, all bed linens, blankets, pillows, towels, washcloths, soap, and other amenities. Daily housekeeping service includes having beds made, rooms cleaned, towels changes and trash emptied. Complimentary coffee and tea is available on the first floor. Madison is the home to Dane County Regional Airport, with direct flights to many US cities and connecting flights to major airport hubs. There is city bus service from Dane County Regional Airport to downtown Madison and the campus via bus transfers. There is also bus service from Chicago O’Hare, Midway and Mitchell Field in Milwaukee.

Madison is a walk-able city, with well traveled sidewalks and walking paths. Madison also has a B-Cycle program with several pick up and drop off locations near the Pyle Center. There is also a free campus bus that covers most of campus. Conference hotels have parking available. Parking for guests staying in campus housing can be arranged by contacting UW Transportation. See the panels below for information on all the above.

The City of Madison bus service stops outside door 6 near baggage claim at the Dane County Regional Airport. There is a shelter with a brown sign that says “Bus Stop” and has a City of Madison route “20” posted. The route “20” bus travels to East Towne Mall on East Washington Ave (HWY 151), where you can transfer to the route “6” city bus heading south. (Ask the driver for a transfer pass) This bus travels to downtown Madison along the Capital square and State Street and is within walking distance to many downtown hotels.

Madison B-cycle is an urban bike sharing program with over 35 active stations throughout the Madison area. If you are interested in renting a B-cycle, visit the Madison B-cycle website at

There is a B-cycle station just outside of Memorial Union, near the corner of Langdon and Park St. There is another B-cycle station near the corner of Langdon St. and Lake St.

B-cycle offers a $6.00 Walk-Up pass for a 24 hour membership.  Check out the website for details.  B-cyle is a great way to get around campus and downtown Madison on shorter trips.




The Pyle Center does not have a dedicated parking ramp. Day guests will find parking in the City of Madison ramp near the corner of Lake and State which is one block away from the Pyle Center. Day guests may also find parking in Lot 46 or Lot 83. Visit UW Transportation Services website for lot locations and real-time availability.

Coach Bus Service

Coach bus service to Madison is available from Milwaukee, Chicago and Minneapolis. Please visit the  carrier website for details.  The buses stop directly outside of Memorial Union, one block from the Pyle Center.

  • Van Galder: Chicago O’Hare or Midway airports to Madison, approximately $60 round trip (stops across from Memorial Union)
  • Badger Bus: Milwaukee Airport (MKE) to Madison, approximately $50 round trip (stops across from Memorial Union)
  • Megabus: Departs near Target Field to Madison, approximately $80 round trip (stops across from Memorial Union)
